Natalie's Profile

Natalie Attended the Contemporary Dance course at Northampton University which was a dream of hers. She graduated in 2013 with a Upper Second Degree and was awarded the "InMotion" prize for Choreography. It was Dance that led Natalie to yoga as she wanted to improve her Strength and flexibility; She discovered that it was an embodied practice that gave her greater awareness of body and a sense of calmness. it not only loosened her limbs she gained better control of movement, and calmness of mind this enabled her to dance better. Knowing how much Yoga has helped her she is now keen to help other people receive the benefits of the practice in a way that suits them.

Experience.

Natalie started her Fitness Career in 1998 where she worked for Lorraine Blakes fitness club. in 2001 she started employment with Esporta health club where she worked as a fitness instructor, class teacher and ran the childrens fit club for 4 years. She enjoyed creating personalised programmes and motivating members through their exercise program. Helping people to reach their goals felt very rewarding. She discovered her passion for dance in 2003 when she took up dance with her partner; she started in Rock and Roll where she won 1st place at the Hemsby Rock and Roll festival. She then moved on to Lindy Hop where she competed at the 100 Club in London (2nd place), The London Swing Championships (3rd place) and The European Championships (Finalist). In 2008 Natalie founded The MK Lindybugs and taught classes and workshops and found life long friends. Her dance career has included contracts with the BBC, The National Trust, Royal and Derngate theatre, Two Thirds Sky 'Eventide project' and personal training Blackpool Rock and Roll competition winners in 2009.

Natalie was awarded a BA (hons) Degree in Dance at the University of Northampton. July 2013 where she was also awarded the 'InMotion Prize' for Choreography. She attended a Teachers Retreat in Thailand 2012. The Retreat gave international dance teachers an opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas with each other, the 2-week retreat involved daily yoga sessions, leading and participating in workshops and marketing strategies She was also given the opportunity to teach dance to local children in Phetchaburn. These experiences have given me a broad knowledge of the international industry that I feel is vital to dance culture.

Natalie now teaches Yoga and Kettlebells at Breadsall Priory and is looking for other oppourtunitys for further classes and personal training. She is aware of the importance of a duty of care to all students and treats everyone equally she take the role of a teacher seriously and wants her students to feel comfortable no matter how experienced they are. she always says;

'It doesn’t matter if you can't touch your toes or you can place your feet on your head, people attend a yoga class for different reasons and all get something different out of it. it is a misconception that you need to be limber, classes can be adapted to make them inclusive suitable for everyone.'
