To respect all forms of yoga is to be a true yogi. To give thanks to all the yogis who came before us is honoring the true lineage of yoga, for yoga is not a style or a statement; it is a personal practice of love and compassion. Take from yoga whatever suits you as a human being and here begin your journey.

(Svatmarama in Paul, C (2014) Yoga For Fitness Profesionals, P18. London, Bloomsbury)

On 17th December 2012 Bikram tried to copyright 26 sequences and 2 breathing exercises the judge rulled “No one person or organization owns yoga or any type of yoga. It belongs to all of us.” Find the full ruling here.
